What we believe

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Victory Worship Center, UPCI are based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines. The Bible is the infallible Word of God and the authority for salvation and Christian living. (II Timothy 3:15-17)

God

We believe there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the Creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Saviour), and as the Holy Ghost (Indwelling Spirit).

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. (Acts 2:4)

Baptism

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin. Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38)

Spiritual Gifts

We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, and healing. (Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11)

Christian Living

As Christians we are to love God and others. We should live a holy life inwardly and outwardly, and worship God joyfully. The supernatural gifts of the Spirit, including healing, are for the church today. (Mark 12:28-31; II Corinthians 7:1; Hebrews 12:14; I Corinthians 12:8-10)

Our worship

We pray

together aloud because in the Bible we read,”They lifted up their voice to God with one accord” (Acts 4:24).

We lift

our hands in praise because in the Bible we read, “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord” (Psalm 134:2).

We sing

with all our hearts because in the Bible we read, “Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth:  make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise” (Psalm 98:4).

We play

musical instruments because in the Bible we read, “And all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments” (2 Samuel 6:5).

We clap

and shout unto God because in the Bible we read, “O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph” (Psalm 47:1).

We dance

before the LORD because in the Bible we read, “Praise Him with the timbrel and dance:  praise Him with stringed instruments and organs” (Psalm 150:4).

We testify

publicly because in the Bible we read, “I will declare thy name unto my brethren; in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee” (Psalm 22:22).

We anoint

with oil for divine healing because in the Bible we read, “Is any sick among you?  Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord” (James 5:14).

We allow

the operation of the spiritual gifts because in the Bible we read, “When ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation” (1 Corinthians 14:26).
